Growing up, I sort of had two extremes when it comes to how to live your life. My dad worked in the same field for decades, split between two companies where he worked for twenty years each (approximately). And then you have my mother, who while also taking care of me, dabbled in all sorts of things–owning a recording studio, teaching accounting at our local university, photography, documentary filmmaking, among other things. So those two paths are the ones I saw growing up, and I’ve sort of felt torn between which of those I wanted to pursue.

But of course, I don’t have to do either of those paths. I’ve decided to stay with the job I have currently for five years to get the 401K matching, but after that? Who knows! And while I have a very clear idea of the type of work I want to do, I also want to be willing to let the universe lead me to other places. I don’t have to follow the path of my parents–I can make up something of my own. And so can you.

Much love and gratitude.

I am trying to post something every day reflecting on creativity, what’s inspiring me now and what’s inspired me in the past, what I’m working on. Think of this is a public writing journal, made public only in an attempt to make myself more accountable.
