I know I’ve mentioned Ellipsus before, but I’m mentioning it again because I love it!
Up until this point, I’ve alternated between using Pages (which is a word processor for Macs) and Google Docs, which I think is common for a lot of folks. But of course, all this AI stuff has made Google Docs feel a tad uncomfortable–they’re definitely using our docs to train AI, and that sort of feels like something I should be able to opt out of!
In full honest, I don’t just universally hate gen-AI. I’ve actually found that it can be useful for quick pep talks for when I get stressed at work (though I’d like to point out very clearly that I’m not using OpenAI for that, I’m using Silk + Sonder’s AI-assisted coach). So I’m not just saying ‘boo AI’ without really thinking about it. I’m mostly saying boo-plagiarism, actually–the AI I use for life coaching is very open about the resources it pulls from to help me.
This is where Ellipsus comes in. They promise not to use your writing to train AI (or, as I’d put it, they promise not to plagiarize your work), and while I haven’t explored these yet, I know they have excellent collaborative features.
Let me know if you decide to give Ellipsus a try! And please, if you have a different word processor you like, share it with me!
Love and gratitude, as always.
