One of the things I’ve sort of agonized over for years now is charging people money for stuff–from my Patreon to things I’m building out, like my guide to lit mags. So here’s my logic, a little bit–

paper is paper clocks in at $3, which is the minimum price that Patreon recommends. I kind of think of this as the ‘I like Kameron generally and want them to succeed’ tier, because it offers the least amount of ‘real’ content. Perhaps, technically, ideal for readers of this blog!

serious paper jumps up to $7 because it actually includes my creative writing. According to Patreon it’s my most ‘popular’ tier, but actually, it’s an event split of membership between this one and paper is paper.

somber highlighters goes all the way up to $15 because should someone join it, it would require a lot more output on my part–this tier gets a new micro piece once a week. It’s definitely doable for me, but I do think it justifies a steeper price. This is the point where I start to get squirrely about how much money I’m asking for.

There are two more tiers where the prices help cover the cost of physical items, like postcards and chapbooks, that I feel good about even if I don’t think anyone will spring for it until I’m a bit more established.

There’s such a fine line between pricing things for what you’re worth and straight up overcharging. I think I’m hitting a good balance. What about you?
