Are you a morning person or a night person?

In grad school, I knew so many writers who basically wrote in the middle of the night. Like, either 1 AM to 3 AM or 4 AM to 6 AM (all of which I consider the middle of the night, even though I often have to wake up at 6 AM for work these days). I’ve learned that my most productive hours, generally speaking, are about two hours after I wake up. The problem with this, of course, is that my day job often conflicts with these productive hours.

Sometimes, that doesn’t really matter. When work is slow, like it is now, it’s easy for me to squeeze in some work around my job tasks. But when things are busy, everything kind of comes to a halt.

So I’m left wondering–how do I turn myself in to a early morning or late night person? I love sleep, and tend to really suffer when I don’t get enough of it, so when am I supposed to write?

I don’t have a solution to that right now, and I’m literally asking for advice. Please, other creatives, let me know how you’re working around your day job!

Love and gratitude, friends.

I am trying to post something every day reflecting on creativity, what’s inspiring me now and what’s inspired me in the past, what I’m working on. Think of this is a public writing journal, made public only in an attempt to make myself more accountable.
